About BYOND Games
First thing you need to know: The BYOND software suite is required to run any BYOND game.
The BYOND software suite is all the software you need to run BYOND. You can download it here.
After downloading and installing BYOND, you can just double-click the BYOND icon1 to start the Pager.
After starting the pager, you can either use the Guest key2 or join BYOND and use your own key.
Joining a game
After installing the BYOND software suite and logging in, you can now join a game.
On the BYOND Games site, you can find a game to join. Most of the games on BYOND are tile-based RPG-like games, but there are also non-graphical games, and games like card games, board games, puzzle games, etc.
After choosing a game to play, you can either download the game3, or play on an already-hosted server4.
To play on an already-hosted server, just choose one of the servers at the bottom of the page and click 'Join'. This will start Dream Seeker, the program that lets you play the games. It will load the game, and then you can start playing5.
Playing a game
After the game starts, you can now play6. Every game is different, but you can usually find info on the games main page7 on how to play and the rules of the game. Most games use the arrow keys to move around, except on some card/board/puzzle games, or non-graphical games.
Game moderation
Many games have moderators8 which enforce the rules and punish people who break the rules. They can usually ban people from the server or the game, kick people of the server, mute people (keep them from talking in the game), and other things that normal players can't do. Remember to follow the rules of each game.
